PianoDisc: Dick Hyman Plays Boogie-Woogie and the Blues
Dick Hyman made an historic recording for PianoDisc, the modern player piano system. Artist Series: Dick Hyman Plays Boggie-Woogie and the Blues was his first all blues and boogie- woogie recording. Along with his own masterful interpretations of the music (which includes Dick's tour de force, four hands arrangement of "Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar," for which he recorded both parts), he also played in the styles of many of the original composers and artists, including Meade "Lux" Lewis and Thomas "Fats" Waller. The disc also features three Hyman originals, "Rollin' the Boogie," "Sacramento Boogie" and "PianoDisc Boogie," the latter two written specifically for the project. Dick also contributed to the disc's fascinating and informative liner notes.
